Floating Oil Storage (FOS)

The Floating Oil Storage (FOS) system is similar to the Cell Spar concept, which can be integrated into the field development scheme for the floating drilling and production vessels.  Given the high market rate for drilling rigs, it can be more economical to develop the field using a floating drilling and production vessel with associated floating storage unit, capable of accepting reasonable risers rather than using MODUs combined with FPSOs.
