Dual Gradient Drilling

Dual gradient drilling employs dual risers easily deployable from the MCF, Spar, or TLP. This configuration allows the power for the dual gradient system to be supplied from the top with minimal additional topsides equipment.  A light fluid is pumped using only surface mounted pumps, as opposed to an unreliable power and maintenance intensive pump on the seafloor. Dual gradient drilling requires fewer casings and the immiscible fluids are easily separated and reused.
