High Performance Computing
Simulations of offshore structures are complex particularly in time domain involving wave, wind, and structural elasticity in a fully coupled model. These simulations are tedious, involving many load cases to cover global performance, structural strength, and structural fatigue. In addition, empirical hydrodynamic models with enough computational power can be investigated in a numerical model basin using computational fluid dynamics tools. With advances in computers, highly accurate mathematical modeling of systems is possible, and using automated tools these simulations can be solved in a timely manner.
To facilitate providing quality engineering services Horton Wison Deepwater has in place a high performance computing facility. The Cray CX1000 is a computational force with extendibility available to our engineers to meet our client’s project schedule
